I created the game “Collecting Friends,” which told the story of the impersonalness of friendship in freshman year of college. In the game, players go around the game board “collecting” friends, by placing them in a burlap sack. The game, although a supposeldy fun board game, is simultaneously created to draw attention to this problematic dynamic of mass friend making. The activities performed in the game itself, as though a ritual, mimic this process of making friends on a mass scale.
